FACT Act Compliance
What is the Fact Act?
The Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACT Act) was signed by President
George W. Bush on December 4, 2003, amending certain provisions of the federal Fair
Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).
The FACT Act requires each of the three nationwide consumer reporting agencies (Experian,
Equifax and Trans Union) to provide consumers with a free copy of their credit report
as often as once every twelve months. A consumer can request their credit reports
in one of three ways - online, by phone or by mail.
To request a copy of your credit report, please contact the centralized processing
center for the three credit bureaus at (877) 322-8228 or online at:
www.annualcreditreport.com.
USIS, as a nationwide specialty consumer reporting agency, is subject to the FACT
Act file disclosure requirements. Upon request to USIS, a consumer is entitled to
receive a copy of his or her file once every twelve-months. Additional copies may
be provided within the subsequent twelve month period, subject to a $9.50 charge.
There are other circumstances under which a consumer may be entitled to free copies
of their file. You may contact us below to see if you are entitled to additional
free copies.
Please note, USIS only maintains consumer files for individuals who have applied
for employment with our customers. As a result, your particular file may not be
available through USIS if you have not applied for employment with one of our customers.
To request a copy of your USIS file, please call (800) 381-0645 or if you would
prefer to request your file by mail, please contact USIS at:
