USIS
Provides Solutions to New Compliance Program
New
supplemental guidelines have been issued regarding requirements
for the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Office
of the Inspector General (OIG) Sanction List and the GSA List
of Excluded Parties. The supplemental Compliance Program Compliance
(CPG) contains new compliance recommendations that requires
annual checks as well as “an expanded discussion of
risk areas, taking into account recent changes to hospital
payment systems and regulations…and lessons learned
in the area of corporate compliance” (Department of
Health and Human Services, Federal Register, Vol. 70, No 19).
This applies to employees, vendors and contractors.
USIS
is helping our healthcare customers meet these requirements
through our CTT import process whereby employee/vendor files
can be submitted for processing against the OIG and GSA data
bases that list sanctioned or excluded parties. Any
matches or clears are then reported back to the client
via our website and electronic submission. The client can
then document the searches that were completed in a timely
manner via USIS verification services..

The
Fraud Abuse and Control Information System (FACIS) report
from USIS also addresses this requirement and adds additional
screening value including a check of disciplined licenses
or certifications. Additionally, the information in FACIS
is historical and provides additional valuable background
information on healthcare providers. The search includes
information provided by federal agencies as well as more
than 800 licensing and certification agencies located in
all 50 states. FACIS provides information on more than 50
types of healthcare professionals, from physicians and midwives
to home health agencies and ambulatory services. For more
