SUBJECT: USIS Commercial Services launches I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification product

Checking employment eligibility helps businesses comply with employment regulations.

TULSA, Okla., June 8, 2006 - USIS, a leader in pre-employment screening, drug testing, and insurance services, and the largest provider of security investigations to the U.S. government, has launched its I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification Product, a cost-effective solution that an employer can use to verify that an employee is legally authorized to work in the United States. The product is offered by USIS's commercial services business based in Tulsa, Okla.

USIS's commercial services business is offering the I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification product through a pilot program administered by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). The I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification product, which is being offered in all 50 states, verifies that an employee's name and social security number match, and provides documentation from the USCIS showing that the employee is lawfully admitted to work in the U.S. This verification is provided for purposes of both employment and wage reporting.

"I-9 Employment Eligibility responds to a growing need for employers to verify whether their employees are legally authorized to work in the U.S." said Clint Hill, verifications product manager for USIS's commercial services business. "Screening employees for immigration status exhibits due diligence in preventing the employment of illegal residents, and pending legislation may make screening employees to determine eligibility for employment a requirement in the near future."

The I-9 process, or employment eligibility check, is a key step in the hiring process. The Department of Homeland Security routinely conducts thousands of investigations each year to determine if employers are hiring unauthorized immigrants.

"When I-9 Employment Eligibility is used to verify whether an employee is legally authorized to work in the U.S., an employer lessens the risk of penalties due to violation of hiring and employment eligibility laws,” said Tim Dowd, president of USIS's commercial services business. "Using this service will help our customers comply with employment regulations."

The most comprehensive solution in pre-employment screening is to combine the I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification product with additional background screening services offered by USIS's commercial services business. The company provides criminal records searches, credit reports, motor vehicle reports, employment and education verifications, drug testing, and other products which assist more than 33,000 customers across the U.S. in the aviation, trucking, retail, healthcare, insurance, and gaming industries.
