USIS partners with Gevity to help small businesses hire the right employees

TULSA, Okla., June 6, 2007 - USIS, a national leader in employment screening, drug testing, insurance services, and the largest provider of security investigations to the U.S. government, is collaborating with Gevity to provide small businesses access to employment screening and verification services, which is helping thousands of small businesses find reliable talent to lower the possibility of employment-related litigation.

USIS' commercial services business based in Tulsa, Oklahoma conducted over 40,000 background checks last year for Gevity, which serves as a full-service human resources department for small and mid-sized businesses. Gevity is based in Bradenton, Florida. USIS’ service to Gevity clients is critical in light of the Small Business Association’s assessment that poor hiring decisions account for 30% of all business failures.

Gevity enlists USIS’ help in providing their customers with the best employment screening services currently available. Through USIS, Gevity clients can access:

  • Criminal history reports, including Widescreen™ national criminal search; county and state criminal record searches; and the USMA National Theft Database, a retail-specific database that includes shoplifting and employee theft incidents.
  • Motor vehicle reports (MVRs) for every state, which allow employers to review an applicant’s driving history.
  • Verifications, including education, employment and professional license verifications; I-9 Employment Eligibility; and the DAC Employment History File, which contains employment histories on terminated drivers.
  • Drug and alcohol testing and physical exams.
