SUBJECT: USIS acquires leading provider of information solutions to insurance industry and government entities
Explore's databased insurance technologies and e-government applications adds product offerings and strengthens USIS's solution approach to the market

USIS, a world-wide provider of security solutions to corporate and government customers, announced today the acquisition of Explore Information Services, a leading provider of violation-monitoring database services to the auto insurance industry and related services to government entities. Terms of the acquisition were not announced.

"This acquisition is a perfect fit with our existing businesses and complements our service approach to the marketplace," said Randy E. Dobbs, Chief Executive Officer of USIS. "The Explore team is absolutely first-rate, and adding this company's capabilities means USIS can offer additional solutions to our customers."

Explore's exception-based reporting services deliver cost-effective underwriting information to property and casualty insurers. The company's proprietary technologies and business solutions include EARS®, a violation monitoring service; RiskAlert®, a youthful driver discovery service; and FireSafe®, a fire protection information service. The Eagan, Minn.-based company employs 55 people and is a division of Schwan's Venture Group, a unit of The Schwan Food Company. The company has regional offices in New Mexico and Colorado that service state contracts.

Explore Information Services will become part of USIS's Commercial Services Division, which is a premier provider of pre-employment screening services to the transportation industry and has a growing presence in the insurance, retail, and healthcare markets. "We will extend Explore's products and services to our customer base," said Tim Dowd, President of USIS's Commercial Services Division. "Combining Explore and USIS capabilities will help us develop new robust customer solutions. This will provide great opportunities for the combined businesses."
