Background checks ensure identity is thoroughly investigated
USIS Special Investigations Unit screens police candidates in New Mexico
FALLS CHURCH, Va., Dec. 11, 2007 – USIS, a national leader in employment screening,

has been awarded an order to conduct sworn (officer) and unsworn (staff) candidate
background investigations for the Albuquerque Police Department (APD) in New Mexico.
USIS’ Special Investigations Unit (SIU) will provide pre-employment investigation
services under the contract in the areas of subject interviews, residence and employment
verification, and character reference checks to ensure each candidate’s identity
and past record is thoroughly investigated. The APD is considered one of the top
50 police departments in the nation in terms of staff size, employing about 1,100
officers.

SIU is part of USIS’ Investigative Services Division (ISD) that has the largest
team of field investigators in North America. By using SIU’s services, law
enforcement agencies can outsource their background investigation process for out-of-town
and recruitment hires , reducing their costs and keeping their officers on the street
to serve and protect.
