USIS’ new Orion security clearance case management platform is faster, more efficient
FALLS CHURCH, Va., August 25, 2008 – USIS, the leading provider of background investigations to the federal government, has developed Orion, which is a new case management and tracking system that dramatically improves the speed and efficiency of its field investigator team and support operations by combining an advanced user interface with superior IT system architecture.
Orion is now online and will be used for work supporting USIS’ government customers other than OPM.
Orion, which is a third generation case management platform, integrates USIS proprietary IT technology with its industry-leading investigative process. The result is a system that is more than 10 times faster in processing data than the company’s previous system and cuts user interaction by more than half.
USIS used its in-house subject matter experts from IT, data entry, field investigations, case review, and quality control to design, develop, and implement the new case management and tracking system.
“We’ve created what we believe will be the new industry standard for best practices in managing investigations,” said James Choi, USIS vice president and chief technology and information officer. “Orion represents USIS’ commitment to continuing innovation and delivering technology leadership to the National Security Clearance Reform initiative. This platform demonstrates that background investigations can be done better in terms of speed and cost effectiveness than existing security clearance case management systems.”
Because Orion was developed completely internally, it is fully integrated with USIS’ technology infrastructure. This improves user uptime and helps ensure greater information and overall security. Orion's open operability also allows it to interface with other third-party government and commercial systems using the latest secure protocols. Orion also has the ability to expand functionality and is fully scalable to meet future national security clearance demands.
