Did You Know? USIS Provides AMA Masterfile Searches

As the background screening provider of choice for over 1,500 healthcare organizations across the country, you can be confident that USIS understands the unique and complex hiring and compliance challenges of the industry.

To assist healthcare providers with addressing these challenges, USIS’ screening services include American Medical Association (AMA) Masterfile Searches. These searches contain profiles established when individuals enter accredited medical schools and include current and historical data on all physicians (both AMA members and nonmembers) and graduates of foreign medical schools who reside in the United States and who have met the educational and credentialing requirements necessary for recognition as physicians. The content of the profiles is intended to assist with credentialing of doctors of medicine (MDs), doctors of osteopathic medicine (DOs), and physician assistants (PAs). read more

Reports Are Always Accessible at USIS

USIS knows that the healthcare industry is under constant scrutiny by regulatory bodies and accreditation organizations. That’s why we provide our healthcare customers with 24-hour access to all background screening reports, seven days a week, 365 days a year.

Reports are archived indefinitely for access by pre-authorized HR or compliance department users, so that in the event of a site survey or audit by accrediting or other governing organizations (i.e. Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations), they are ready for review as needed. This access helps healthcare organizations streamline the survey process and avoid potential costly fines and fees.

When healthcare facilities utilize USIS for both pre-employment screening and ongoing licensing and credentialing, the resulting records become an even more robust historical record of screened employees and medical staff. If you are not already benefiting from USIS online reports or if you would like more information about how USIS can assist you across hospital departments, call 1.866.205.6129. At USIS, the client services team works diligently each day to exceed customer expectations. The client services team in Lincoln, Neb., is no exception. Led by Cheryl Hackworth, Manager of Client Services, this team of about 30 employees receives approximately 7,000 calls per week.

These books provide valuable information about each state’s records so you can make more informed decisions. read more

Oregon Added to MVR Express

MVR Express provides all of the benefits found in a standard motor vehicle record, but speeds the response time from the state. Additionally, MVR Express provides real-time, immediate response reporting for driving records from 45 states, which includes the recent addition of Oregon.

Motor Vehicle Records (MVRs) can identify the status of an individual’s driver’s license, license type, endorsements, restrictions, driving violations and suspensions. USIS provides fast, consistent reporting with direct access to driving records from all 50 states, plus the District of Columbia and 11 Canadian Provinces. Our MVR Smart Ordering Entry System saves time and improves the accuracy of information received. An MVR Table can be provided to show state-by-state availability.

USIS Announces Monthly Driver Monitoring Program

In February, USIS announced the launch of Driver Violation Alert (DVAsm), a unique risk mitigation solution that an employer can use to monitor the motor vehicle records of its drivers on a monthly basis.

“DVAsm is an additional tool available to employers with fleets of drivers which promotes safe driving practices and reduces the likelihood of costly claims due to problematic driving patterns. The service allows employers to take a more proactive role in monitoring employee driving records, and gives an employer a chance to take corrective actions or offer driver safety training that may reduce the risk of future accident involvement,” said Kim Bishop, credit and driving records product manager for USIS’ commercial services business. “For DOT regulated businesses, proactive screening of company drivers also helps eliminate any surprises that may occur during the annual MVR review process.” read more

USIS Fingerprint Collection is Here and Ready to Order

USIS now offers Fingerprint Collection, an employment screening service that enables authorized employers to conduct criminal searches through the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) based on an individual’s unique fingerprint.

Through a comprehensive, nationwide network of live scan fingerprint collection sites, USIS assists companies in mitigating risk by identifying applicants or employees who could have a criminal history. “The use of live scan equipment allows employers to quickly and easily perform fingerprint based criminal record searches on an individual,” said Director of Criminal Records for USIS’ commercial services business, Dean Johnson. “Identifying individuals with a possible criminal past shows that an employer is taking the necessary precautions to ensure the protection of company assets, as well as ensure the safety of its employees and members of the general public.” read more

USIS Launches ID Verify

USIS has announced the launch of its ID Verify product, a valuable scoring system that an employer can use to validate the identity of prospective employees. Individuals that apply for jobs may use false personal information to cover up an unfavorable past. Considering that 30 percent of businesses failures can be attributed to poor hiring practices, running an inaccurate background check during the hiring process carries a high cost to employers. In fact, statistics show that annual losses generated by poor hiring choices, absenteeism, drug abuse and theft average $75 billion per year. As a result, verifying that a prospective employee is who they claim they are is a crucial step in the hiring process.

USIS has developed ID Verify as a solution for employers to validate the identity of job applicants. ID Verify provides employers with data from a number of sources and databases that confirm name, Social Security number, date of birth, driver’s license and/or phone number. The data are then “scored,” and summed to provide a total composite score for that applicant. The higher the score, the more likely the applicant is who they say they are. A lower score signals the need for further investigation.

USIS Offers Business Credit Screening

Before signing a contract with another company, it is crucial to your company’s financial well-being to fully understand the potential risk that company could have on your bottom line. You need to evaluate whether that company has the creditworthiness to, for example, lend you money or sell goods or services to you. Therefore, running a credit check on a potential company could allow you to make a quick assessment of whether you are willing to develop a partnership with them.

USIS offers Business Credit as a cost-effective way to better understand another company’s credit history. This report is a snapshot of the business you are inquiring about, and includes risk categories that analyze the account and then classify the account into one of the following categories:

  • Acceptable
  • Caution
  • Warning
  • Serious Risk
  • Bankruptcy

Using the business name and current address, you will receive a report within 24 to 72 hours. Let USIS’ established reputation providing valuable credit reports assist your company with making wise business decisions by choosing to run a Business Credit report on your potential business partners.
